Sasha Lazard is a classical crossover artist. She is a trained singer.
Lazard was born in New York and grew up in Paris with two brothers and later in her life (1994) she would gain a little half sister Sydney Lazard. She attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying opera, but after graduation pursued a more electronic-influenced sound inspired by the local nightclub scene. Fittingly, she performed her new music at several clubs in New York, Los Angeles, and Ibiza before recording an album.



In 2000, Lazard released her debut The Myth Of Red through Higher Octave Music. This album, loosely themed around the myth of Inanna descending to the underworld, appeared on the Billboard charts for both dance music and classical crossover.
2005 saw the release of her second album Moonfall, more acoustic in style than its predecessor.
Lazard has recorded songs for the films Princess Mononoke and Holy Smoke.
On may 15 2004 she was married to Michael Mailer. In 2006, they had a baby boy named Cyrus Lazard.

The Myth of Red is fusion of opera arias, Russian folk tunes, and art songs with beat-driven electronic soundscapes. The MOR features 13 tracks inspired by or based on Rachmaninoff (Awakening), Caccini (Ave Maria), Pergolesi (Stabat Mater) Saint-Saëns (The Forbidden Dance), and The Incubus by the notorious poet Charles Baudelaire. The production, programming, and keyboards of Frank Fitzpatrick and David Tobocman, and the lovely violin of Lili Hayden support the album beautifully. Delirium, Joey Moskowitz, and Dan Martinez contributed remixes.
