This album is completely different from all other Mike Stern albums. This is jazz guitar at its best. No overdrive on this album. On this album Mike shows that he's a great jazz guitar player both on the electric and acoustic guitar. Songs which I particular like are the ballads Like Someone In Love, Source (beautiful acoustic piece composed by Mike), L Bird (featuring the great Randy Brecker on trumpet), Peace. Some other gems are John Coltrane's Moment's Notice and Thelonius Monk's Straight No Chaser and the Miles Davis pieces Jean Pierre (almost kicks ass) and Nardis (featuring Jay Anderson on the acoustic bass. Brilliant piece). I just realised I quoted almost the complete album. It is a very good album. I had to get used to it but now I play it as much as the rest of Mikes work. -- Ries van Schelven
