Smooth, soulful work from Jimmy Sommers - a saxophonist, but one who comes across here with a sound that's almost more soul than jazz! The backings on the set are great -- a warmly flowing tapestry of keyboards and gentle beats -- and Jimmy's tenor glides across the top with a slinky, seductive quality that's got almost as much "voice" as if he were singing. But thanks to guest vocals from Rahsaan Patterson, Macy Gray, and Vikter Duplaix, Jimmy sticks to his sax throughout -- and while we're mentioning guest stars, we should also let you know that Paul Oakenfold also appears on 2 tracks. Titles include "Vertical", "Lovelife (rmx)", "Happy Hour", "If I Knew", "Let Your Body Go", "Out Of Nowhere", and "The Islands".
